Abolqasem Sadri Qazi, son of Qazi Ali and younger brother of Qazi Mohammad (Peshawa), was born on the 18th of Bahman 1281 Solar Hijri (1902) in the city of Mahabad. His mother, Gewehertaj Khanum, was the daughter of Agha Sherbeg, the leader of the Feyzollabegi tribe, who traced their lineage back to the Ayyubi dynasty.\nAbolqasem was still a child when his mother passed away. However, Ziba Khanum, Qazi Ali\u2019s second wife, cared for the children with such kindness and affection that they did not feel the absence of their mother.\nAbolqasem first learned reading, writing, and religious studies from his father. He later continued his education under his uncle, the honorable Sayfulquzat. From an early age, Sadri Qazi possessed a strong patriotic and social personality. He was highly knowledgeable and skilled in both politics and the sciences. He was also a talented writer and a sensitive poet.\nIn his youth, he married Shasultan Khanum, daughter of Mustafa Beg Feyzollabegi. Their marriage produced four children: Dr. Kamal, Abdullah Khan, Geweher Taj Khanum (known as Khanum Khanum), and Tuba Khanum.\nSadri Qazi was a member of the Komala Zhian K (Society of the \"Z\" Group). Later, together with his elder brother Peshawa Qazi Mohammad and his cousin Mohammad Hossein Khan Seifi Qazi, he helped found the Democratic Party of Kurdistan and played a significant role within the party.\nDue to his prominent social and political character, he was greatly loved by the people of the city and the region, and all sides held him in high respect. Because of his competence, eloquence, and dedication to the people and the homeland, he was elected as the representative of Mahabad and the surrounding region in the 14th term of the Iranian Parliament through direct public votes. He moved to Tehran for his parliamentary duties and constantly worked to resolve the problems of the Mukriyan region. He became a voice of hope and a refuge for distressed Kurds in Tehran. In addition, he closely monitored and supported Kurdish students studying in Tehran, providing them with consistent financial and administrative assistance.\nAfter the end of the 14th parliamentary term, he remained in Tehran and devoted himself to political activities and efforts to secure the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people. During the Republic of Kurdistan, he served as the representative of the Republic in Tehran. Most of the negotiations and meetings between the leaders of the Kurdistan Republic and the central Iranian government \u2014 including with the Shah himself \u2014 were conducted by Sadri Qazi. With his foresight and awareness, he had anticipated that the Soviet Union would eventually abandon the Republic. Therefore, to preserve the achievements and minimize bloodshed in Kurdistan, he maintained continuous contact with the central government. The diplomatic efforts between the Republic and Tehran largely rested on his shoulders. During this period, he met dozens of times with the Prime Minister and other ministers, and had two audiences with the Shah.\nIn addition to his political and diplomatic work in Tehran, he frequently returned to Mukriyan to resolve disputes among Kurdish tribal leaders, using his expertise to peacefully settle conflicts between them.\nSadri Qazi, along with a group of prominent Kurdish political figures, was invited by the Soviet Union to participate in a cultural conference in the Azerbaijan Republic. He spent several days in Baku as a guest of the Soviet government.\nHe dedicated all his efforts and struggles to realizing the vision of his elder brother Peshawa \u2014 achieving freedom and independence for Kurdistan.\nIn Khordad 1325 Solar (June 1946), Qavam al-Saltaneh invited Sadri Qazi and told him that if Qazi Mohammad came to Tehran to negotiate the Kurdish issue, there might be a chance to reach a political solution. Sadri immediately informed Peshawa of Qavam\u2019s invitation via telegram. Peshawa first visited Ja\u2019far Pishevari, the leader of the Azerbaijan Republic in Tabriz, and then flew from there to Tehran on the 5th of Tir. Peshawa Qazi stayed in Tehran for twenty days, during which he held five meetings with Qavam, three with Razmara, and one with Mohammad Reza Shah. However, these meetings did not yield any major gains for the Kurdish cause, as the central government was unwilling to recognize the legitimate rights of the Kurds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On December 21, 1946, the Iranian army arrested Peshawa Qazi Mohammad, Mohammad Hossein Khan, and other leaders of the Democratic Party and the Kurdistan Republic. Sadri Qazi hurriedly went to Tehran and immediately met with Qavam al-Saltaneh, telling him: \u201cYou did not keep your promise. Now Peshawa and his comrades have been arrested. You must order their release.\u201d Qavam replied that it was the army\u2019s decision and that he had no authority over them. Disheartened, Sadri left and returned to his home. One hour later, several military vehicles full of armed soldiers raided his house and arrested him. Two days later, he was sent back to Mahabad with his hands and eyes bound.\nUpon arrival in Mahabad, before being taken to the military prison, he was allowed to visit his children. In that one hour he spent at home with an Iranian army officer present, he told his family: \u201cWe are facing a catastrophe.\u201d He also advised them not to turn to anyone for help and not to plead with anyone for their release.\nAfter three months of an unfair trial that lacked any legal principles, a death sentence was issued. The court of appeal upheld the verdict. On the night of 10th Farvardin 1326 Solar (March 31, 1947), the sentence was carried out. Peshawa Qazi, Sadri Qazi, and Mohammad Hossein Khan Seifi Qazi became the leading martyrs of Kurdistan\u2019s freedom movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
