Qader Fattahi Qazi (1935–Present) Early Life and Background Qader Fattahi Qazi was born on August 27, 1935 (4 Shahrivar 1314 HS), in the village of Upper Qizilje, located 15 kilometers southeast of Mahabad. Qizilje was the ancestral estate of his grandfather, Mirza Rasul. His father, Mirza Khalil Fattah Qazi, was the son of Mirza Rasul and the grandson of Haji Khalil. His mother, Fatemeh, was the daughter of Mullah Jalal Motamid-ol-Olama (son of Mullah Hakim) and Buzurg Khanum (widely known as Daya Seyyedeh). The Motamid-ol-Olama family shared close kinship ties with the prominent Mufti family of Mahabad.
Education and Academic Shift In 1936, Mirza Khalil began working for the Mahabad Tobacco Department. In 1951, his work transferred the family to Tabriz. Consequently, Qader completed his final years of secondary education in the Natural Sciences track at Ferdowsi High School in 1954. Though initially accepted into the Pharmacy program at the University of Tabriz, his profound passion for literature led him to abandon pharmacy after just one year. To build a rigorous academic foundation, he returned to secondary studies to earn a Diploma in Literature in 1956. He then enrolled in the Faculty of Literature at the University of Tabriz, graduating in 1959. His undergraduate thesis, titled "A Study of Kurdish Song Rhythms and Kurdish Proverbs," marked the beginning of his scholarly focus.

While teaching in Sarab, Qader maintained a strong academic connection with the University of Tabriz, particularly with the esteemed Dr. Manouchehr Mortazavi.

Scholarly Methodology and Contributions Over 65 years of literary activity, Professor Qader has produced dozens of books and research articles. He is most renowned for his dedication to Kurdish oral literature. His methodology was meticulous: during summer breaks, he would travel to Mahabad to seek out traditional storytellers (Beit-singers) and oral historians. He would painstakingly transcribe their recitations word-for-word. These storytellers, such as the famous Ahmadi Lutfi, often had little formal education but carried vast epics in their memories, passed down through generations. Qader also recorded every idiom or pithy saying he encountered, which eventually culminated in his two-volume masterpiece, Kurdish Proverbs and Wisdom.
